General Manager

"The greatest asset of a company is its people, and the greatest liability is a negative attitude." — John C. Maxwell

Eric Kazakoff is a highly accomplished senior executive with over 39 years of experience in the construction and community management industries. Serving as General Manager of the Canyon Lake POA, he oversees a wide range of operations, including contract management,   finance, facilities management, IT, legal matters,  maintenance, project management, and construction management.

Eric launched his construction career at McMillin Communities, a major residential developer in San Diego County. Within the company, he swiftly rose to the position of chief building estimator and project manager in its military design-build division. There, he oversaw the successful bidding, design, and construction of multiple large-scale projects worth over $50 million each for various government entities. These projects included expansive housing communities for military families. Throughout his career, Eric has played a key role in delivering more than half a billion dollars worth of impressive construction projects.

During the housing crash and recession of the early 1990s, this profitable company lost its financial bonding/backing. Eric went on to establish Kazakoff Construction Company, Inc., where he served as President and CEO for over 20 years through two more recessions. During this time, his company constructed countless commercial and public works projects, including retail, state and municipal fire stations, campgrounds, restaurants, military, education, and medical. Notably in the Temecula Valley, his company constructed the original one-half mile of the wooden boardwalk in Old Town Temecula and the Wilson Creek and Monte de Oro wineries. Eric later served as the CEO of Western Construction Auctions, Inc. for four years, providing strategic direction and leadership to the company. In 2016, Eric was hired as Director of Operations for the Canyon Lake POA, and within four months, the Board of Directors offered him the General Manager position.

He has held a General Contractor's license in Southern California since 1992 and is currently licensed. Furthermore, he holds several certifications, including CAMEx® Community Association Management Executive, CCAM-LS® Certified Community Association Manager-Large Scale, and CMCA® Certified Manager of Community Associations, reflecting his community association management expertise.

Eric's commitment to the community association management profession is demonstrated through his volunteer position on the Board of Directors of the California Association of Community Managers (CACM). His involvement with CACM helps him stay current with industry trends and best practices. In recognition of his exceptional leadership and innovative contributions to the industry, Eric has received not one but two of five prestigious CACM Vision Awards in 2023 (Leadership and Innovator), which highlight his dedication to excellence and his commitment to staying at the forefront of the community association management profession.

As General Manager of the Canyon Lake POA and a dues-paying resident/member of Canyon Lake, Eric offers an extremely broad skill set and unique perspective to ensure the smooth day-to-day operations of the association. His critical eye, strategic thinking, problem-solving skills, and dedication to achieving results are highly respected by his peers, the Boards he works for, and his colleagues. Eric fiercely defends his staff and organization and ensures the entire team is committed to the Canyon Lake POA mission to provide exceptional services that enhance the quality of life and sense of community that make Canyon Lake a desirable place to live and enjoy.
